So after all this time i'd have to say that the people who left twitter/x
have caused a huge improvement.

it's a much nicer place with less bots. i'm not a fan of the format but i check in every once in a while. each time it's a huge improvement.

How many people do you think left Twitter/X? Why did they leave? I made an account 10 years back and checked it after reading your message here and I have 426 followers...why? It must be bots. I have a grand total of 5 posts in 10 years. I do not understand. Shaking my head.

well twitter was a liberal echo chamber so when elon bought it he exposed their practices. the people that left and encouraged everyone else to leave didn't like elon.

i find this strange because i think we can all agree that nobody likes zuckerberg and what he's done over the years. these same people use facebook with abandonment.

the only difference is zuckerberg is an asshole who keeps a low profile.
elon is an ahole who doesnt.

The problem is social media is just as crazy as bbsing where people like to be litteral twits to each other.

I only noticed it was loaded with ads and a lot of political hate and it kind of bored me so I just abandoned it. I will check it out again and see how much has changed in 10 years. Have a good day MRO.

I don't know about this 'SafeSpace' business, but I've certainly found BSky to have a better signal-to-noise ratio than Twitter.

Similar on Mastodon/Fediverse.

Twitter is still a vaguely useful source of commentary on general interest/current affair type discussion, The community notes feature has helped immensely with the quality of information that propagates there.

For niche interest discussions, BSky and Mastodon are less noisy, and don't try so corral you towards the algorithm-generated feed, over a chronological list of posts from people you follow.

The true cesspool is Instagram's "Threads" app, overflowing with low quality copy-pasted rage-bait/engagement-farming nonsense. Almost like its algorithm celebrates mediocrity! "Someone explain to me why people reverse in to parking spots!" is not front page material, not the first time, not the 99th time today.

if you're talking about x/twitter most of that political hate is from
liberals and they are on bluesky carrying on.

regarding ads, i use an adblocker. dont know why you dont use one.

well that's your algorithm. what it knows about you is what it shows you.

I dont use x/twitter much so i see posts from people i follow.

i rarely use bluesky so it shows me a bunch of bluesky junk.
