The current events regarding telegram, the "sorry that's so late" awareness regarding privacy issues with the most used and widespread messaging technologies, has brought the question: what am i going to use then?

This week telegram has proven by itself exactly what it was, is, and

I don't use a phone for any kind of important communication. Not going
to install an app on my phone just to enable a desktop app. No way.
I refused to get a smartphone for over a decade until my new job
required me to have one. I eventually quit that job and got rid of the
phone. Screw mobile phones!

I agree, phones are for regular people that does not know how to use a
real computer, my opinions regarding signal vs telegram are not as in
which is just better, that obviosly signal is much better in privacy but
not even near of real privacy software but my opinion was of people
using whatsup and having an opinion on the matter, a lot of People in
Spain use whatsup "because every one uses it" I myself, do not use it,
so I found signal to be the ONLY software regular ignorant folks are willing to
have, if it was not for signal a person like me that have lots of
friends on different continents that are not hackers nor privacy
advocates, I will be in 0 contact with any of them because I refuse to
use whatsup, facebook, instagram and the likes, my mother and some family included, and I know a lot of other people aware of the situation are in
our toes, I can use privacy and secure programs with other hackers, unix
folks and old school people that knows their shit, what signal does is
allows us to have some sort of contact with normal family and friends
with out like "others do" go to the worse of all and use whatsup/telegram/facebook and the likes...
one thing is to know what is better and another for it to be useful with
out having to compromise 100%, easy to say signal may be better than
telegram but is still not good, then that same people have whatsup,
intagram, uses their phone as a computer and such... those are the ones against
I am speaking to.

I do think Dessalines makes some very good points about the problems
of Signal, specially the way it is even now tied into phone numbers.
